I think the original question was around can you identify the type of gap prior to the confirmation of it being filled.

My thought is had support been established at the past resistance at 10.5, then (until that support is broken) you could assume the gap at 9 was a breakaway. Is that consistent with your thinking?

if it had held 10.5c it would have been 90% chance of a runaway gap - did you read the Bullkowski link ?
