As stated...the finalised regs don't mean that purchasers can't buy assitive hearing products like IQBuds (augmented hearing)...just means until those regs ate finalised can't advertise/market them as being OTC compliant. In the broad scheme of things don't think it would hurt to broaden our advertising by including the term auditory assistive as an additional descritor to "augmented" presuming the lawyers give us the ok? Just thinking out loud...
Also think the audiologists have self servingly held the populace to ransom long enough...they may serve their place at the high hearing loss end of the market but lose relevance as you move towards the mild loss spectrum where the vast majority populate.
They also seem to be getting hammered by Chains like Costco that are cutting into their traditional market by undercutting service and supply costs to the hearing aid market. Suspect a lot of the smaller retail outlets may go the way of the Dodo and further suspect they will be absorbed into the pharmaceutical chain setups...kind of like where you see optometrists congregating nowadays...maybe?
