A nice little article about how Apple will be getting a small software update to act like a low-budget set of hearing aids, when the new iOS 12 mobile platform rolls out across Apple devices. It actually names Nuheara specifically as a company already in this space with the IQBuds.
"Numerous fully wireless headphone manufacturers have seen accessibility for hearing-impaired listeners as an important part of the market, with products like the Nuheara IQbuds being made almost specifically with that type of buyer in mind. As augmented reality products continue to become more mainstream in the coming years, it’s likely that more fully wireless earbuds will include this technology standard, and, frankly, we hope to see more moves like Apple’s in the future."
It just goes to show that the big boys have to try and keep up with smaller companies like NUH if they want to keep their market share. Unfortunately for them, the sequel is almost never as good as the original. Great work from NUH management managing to get their products out to market before players like Apple could dominate the market. We are in a nice space that has only just started to kick in to gear, and are ahead of the pack at the moment. Plus, surely there's no way that a simple software update could outperform products designed specifically hearing augmentation... I guess that is something we'll have to track over the coming months!
