Yeh, I saw it. Very disappointed with its negative bias.
Not sure about your waste theory. Assuming they shoot it from Earth's surface, what happens if there's a mishap (i.e. explosion) mid-course, esp. in Earth's atmosphere - couldn't be good!
On a more serious note, it's quite plausible to me (as suggested) that nuclear waste they cannot treat now, could be "cleaned-up" in the future. I suppose the same could be said for wind and solar technology improvement, but nuclear is the go in the meantime in my opinion.
