I spoke with my brother in DK last night, and he tells me that Greenland fisheries are not doing too well. The danish management team of the fisheries have given the reigns over to the Greenlanders. It has been Greenlands stable lucrative income under danish rule.
If they are not making money out of their fishing industry, ( I was told it was due to bad management, but there could also be fewer fish in the waters around Greenland, as elsewhere in the world, so who knows...). The only thing that will save them from an economic melt down if the fisheries are in trouble, is to diversify into mining. They will need more than one industry to keep them going as an independent state.
It will take time to sort out the consultation with the people of Greenland and pass new laws etc etc ...The danes will be miffed if they have to increase their aid to Greenland ..... mining will happen IMO.....
