The asset under production would likely be within a US holding company with both costs and sales in USD. Paid out earnings would then likely be declared as USD dividend per share. So an exchange occurs to AUD when the dividends would be paid to shareholders. That won't be for perhaps 6+ years at the earliest.
It ultimately comes down to whether AUD will push back towards parity with the USD.
Also keep in mind that the gold price could advance 30%+ over 1-2 years perhaps more than 100% over 5-10 years. So movement in the USD gold price could more than offset movement in the AUD to USD exchange rate ( a move to parity is a move of 38%, whereas gold could move much more than this based on previous bull runs ).
