Migration will either be proportionately (to population figures) higher or lower in the future, but it will continue to happen. Economies depend on it.
I completely agree that heaps of migrants are going through TAFE/VET courses just to get an easy foot in the country.
My parents and I are Indian and got in genuinely over a long process from like 1992-1995 - which included applications, aptitude tests and what not.
I became a permanent citizen ages ago but took up cooking at TAFE and what I saw was quite disturbing - there were like 40 Bangladeshis in the year who got student visas and studied cooking here.
Guess what happened after the graduated and got a permanent visas? They went into business management. Complete backdoor entry.
Still migration can't possible stop otherwise economies will end up deflated and dead like Japan.
