The Electric Vehicle market for Novonix's PUREgraphite anode material, electrolytes and Battery Testing Tech continues to grow.
In addition to Byton, Tesla, Dyson, VW, multiple Chinese car companies and the mainstream US and EU car companies expanding their EV models (discussed in this thread above) from 2019, now we have a new one.
Rivian. A new US designed and engineered EV car company that will commence production of 250,000-300,000 EV pickups and SUVs from late 2019/early 2020. (Every 300,000 EVs require 18,000 tonnes per annum of graphite anode, every 1million EVs requires 60,000-70,000tpa)
They are converting an old Mitsubishi petrol engine vehicle plant in Illinois USA (another example of an existing petrol Auto plant being converted to EV) into a new high tech EV production plant for first production to commence 12-15 months from now.
Again, Rivian's purchasing department, as is Dyson, Byton, VW, Tesla, Benz, Audi, Toyota, Nissan, Ford, GM, FCA etc, will be locking in the Bill of Materials for each of their EV 2019/2020 production right now, if they haven't already done so.
VW said to be open to joining German battery cell consortium
RJ Scaringe, CEO and Founder of Rivian also mentions Rivian's architecture (chassis, battery, battery management system and electric motors, can be sold to any car maker that hasn't yet invested heavily in EVs, where they would be able to reskin an exterior and interior to release their own branded EVs at a much lower Capex and speed to market.
The Rivian Electric Adventure Vehicles will be released at the LA Auto show on the 30th of November 2018.
We just need to let Dr Chris Burns, Dr David Stevens, Dr Mark Obrovac and Dr Ed Buiel continue their EV grade battery materials development.
