The pub is .... complicated. It had new owners and the owner died suddenly and his sister took it over. She died suddenly a few weeks later. I'm amazed that it's still open actually, I thought they had shut for a while. And let's just say there's a lot of locals that don't drink at the pub.

There's a good book "A Poor man's diggings" that is a pretty heavy read, but interesting if you can get a copy of it.

Believe it or not, 100 years ago, there was something like 9 pubs in Bethanga!

Everyone gets their water tested for arsenic though and the big tailings piles you saw have been complained about for a long time.
