Forward looking AirNZ has about $440m in Fleet purchases per annum to look forward to. And $150 - $200m annually in digitisation type expenditure. And $150m in engine maintenance expenditure. So that's another, lets call it $800m a year. Oh. And another $450m in retrofitting the 787's.

On the bright side the Govt is committed to keep our local transport options running. KiwiRail is going great guns with Hamilton - Auckalnd commuter service. Only about 20 people want to catch the 6:00am train. But the govt is paying to keep the train running. They don't mind it is at a huge loss. Maybe they wil do direct flights.
And a final word of warning. Its Budget Day next week. And all indications are it going to be about the environment. NZ single handed is going to stop Climate Change. Yeah for us! Lets see how that is going to affect airlines. The current AirNZ voluntary Climate Change tax could become compulsory.
