let’s see, the devastation of COVID, White Island, Christchurch, Auckland and moral destroying Nannygate cannot hold NZ, tourism into NZ and Air New Zealand down for too much longer.
I am much more optimistic. people have written off NZ before and it has remained a nation state if only just. if Air New Zealand is not successful, New Zealand is basically another pacific basketcase.
Luxon will make it work, he has to for all kiwis sake. NZ cannot continue to be another someone’s escape from the tyranny of the One China Policy as practised by the western nations. A transit lounge into Australia. that May return for some and is good for AIZ but NZ has more potential than a holding pattern for Australia or people to go into Sydney.
My hope is that tourism will resume beyond the harsh COVID lockdown, the White Island eruption, the Christchurch massacre, Auckland law and order issues.
Air New Zealand will be a major beneficiary of that as an end of line carrier. Qantas seems more interested in Sydney- London, Sydney -NYC long haul and domestic travel.
I think AIZ is well poised to take advantage of much improved circumstances.
