    helen clarke gave away any rights to anything from the state in australia in 2001. as it stands, the kiwis pay the levies but can not claim if something goes wrong.
    australians have full access to all government paensions/welfare/acc etc etc.
    i thumbed up the first poster because he/she is more or less correct. for some reason foreigners are preferred over kiwis by the government.
    wait! there is more.
    the government has preferred overseas businesses for government contracts, especially the big ones that could easily be done by the locals(partly why they bugger off overseas). fiascos include a police computer system, ministery of education payroll(fancy paying a hundred million bucks for a payroll system that doesnt work. (payroll.... 100 million bucks), train carriages from china that have problems while disbanding a perfectly good engineering/manufacturing outfit all for the sake of 5 or 6 million bucks. best to pay that much extra, get quality and keep all of the money in nz.


    both labour and national are a pack of wankers on this front.
