ERG to Supply Smart Card Ticketing
System in Wellington and Auckland
The ERG Group, a world leader in smart card automated fare collection solutions,
announced today it has been selected as the preferred bidder to supply a contactless smart
card ticketing solution for the major transport operator in Wellington and Auckland NZ.
ERG will be installing their ticketing equipment on 1,100 buses owned by Stagecoach New
Zealand.
The system is expected to be available to the public in the second half of 2005 and
progressively expand in the first half of 2006. The system has the capability to offer
integrated ticketing solutions, which are expected to be rolled out by public transport
operators in Wellington and Auckland over the next few years.

ERG has a solution that satisfies both these requirements”, explained Bill Rae, Managing
Director of Stagecoach New Zealand.
Auckland and Wellington join Christchurch in the list of ERG’s New Zealand clients. ERG
Chief Executive, Dr Allan Sullivan said, “We are extremely pleased that Stagecoach New
Zealand selected ERG. Our selection as the provider of this system, combined with our
Christchurch installation, firmly cements ERG’s position as the leader in New Zealand for
smart card ticketing.”
