I’ve been following these threads for a fewmonths and am surprised by the number of people who thinks NZS is a fishingcompany. I thought it would be useful to start a thread on NZS Products andtheir benefits to assist people with their due diligence.

Investing your hard earned cash in a companyyou have little knowledge in is extremely risky and stressful during SPfluctuations. It is extremely important that you do your own research andunderstand the product range of the company you are investing in. When youinvest in a company for their fundamentals and growth, you will not be botheredby the rise and fall. This is by no means financial advice, just my personalopinion. Hope you find this information useful. GLTAH.

Please note that this list is not official. It is based off my notes from previous announcements and webinars.

    ------------------------------

Astaxanthinis a pigment belonging to the carotenoid family. It is found in crustaceans, fish (especially wild fish), and other animals and vegetables that feature areddish color. In crustaceans, it is surrounded by a proteinand released by heat – this is why shrimp and lobsters turn red when cooked. The astaxanthin found in the flesh of salmon, particularly wild salmon, enablesthem to swim upstream to locations more conducive to their reproduction –without it, they would be unable to accomplish this impressive feat. Astaxanthinis also present in large quantities in the algae Haematococcus pluvialis –which is responsible for the reddish color of the fish that consume it.

Astaxanthin boosts the health of joints, skin, and the vascular system. It is also one of the only antioxidants that can crossboth the blood-brain barrier and the blood-retinal barrier – allowing both thebrain and the eyes to enjoy its benefits. All of our internal organs arereceptive to it as well.

    Benefits include:

Antioxidant effects - Astaxanthin’seffects are 10 to 100 times as powerful as other antioxidants (such asb-carotene). Its protective effect against oxidation has been proven withregard to damage to membranes, DNA, and the cardiovascular system.

Cardiovascular effects - Astaxanthinhelps improve the blood lipid profile – reducing average total cholesterol,LDLc, and triglycerides and increasing HDLc. It has also been proven to promotearterial health in adults who suffer from metabolic syndrome, and tosignificantly improve blood flow.

Anti-inflammatory effects - Astaxanthinis an anti-inflammatory with no side effects that works by blocking the COX-2enzyme. It helps protect against mitochondrial oxidation and inflammation. Ithas also been shown to reduce lactic acid buildup in muscles, thus reducingpost-exercise pain.

Effects on physical performance - Astaxanthinhelps increase physical strength and minimize muscle recovery time followingexertion. It also contributes to increased resistance to fatigue during intenseexercise.

Effects on skin and eyes - Astaxanthin’sproperties help protect against damage caused by sunburns and ultraviolet rays.It also helps reduce wrinkles and increase skin hydration.

Neurological effects - Astaxanthinprotects cells and the nervous system from oxidative damage. It contributes tothe protection of neurological functions, and even helps boost cognitivefunctions in the elderly.

    ------------------------------

Fucoxanthin is a brown seaweed pigment that is found in most brown seaweeds, aswell as a few other marine sources. It is a xanthophyll, which is a moleculestructurally similar to beta-carotene and vitamin A; yet fucoxanthin does notpossess vitamin-like activity in the body.

Fucoxanthin, viaits metabolites, seems to be stored in fat cells for a prolonged period of timeand can induce fat loss while inhibiting fat cell differentiation andproliferation. Although only one human study has been published, it appears tobe a promising non-stimulatory fat loss agent but requires time to work (5-16weeks).

It also possessesother health benefits, such as correcting abnormalities in glucosemetabolism in muscle tissue which can help diabetics and might reducecholesterol levels and triglycerides by currently unverified mechanisms. Reductionsin blood pressure and reductions in both liver fat stores and liver enzymevalues have been noted with fucoxanthin supplementation in humans.

Fucoxanthin, although usage as a supplement is preliminary, appears to be a very promisingjoint fat loss and health boosting agent.

Marinecollagen is a pure form of hypoallergenic protein produced from the skins offish. Fish skins remaining from food production are thoroughly washed, thenhydrolyzed by an acid and a food grade enzyme to yield marine collagenpeptides, which have a low molecular weight for easy digestion and absorption.

Although all collagen is composed of the same aminoacids, marine collagen differs from bovine or porcine-derived collagen in thatit contains higher amounts of the amino acids Glycine and Proline, which have been particularly associated with promoting healthy hair, skin and nails. Marine Collagen is also absorbed into the body faster.

    Benefits include:

    Skin elasticity and hydration

    Healthy nail growth

    Improved cellulite morphology

    Bone and joint support

    Body composition

Green-lippedmussels originate from the waters that surround NewZealand, and are known for being the largest type of mussel in the world. In addition to its anti-inflammatoryproperties, the green lipped mussel is considered a superfood because itcontains a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fats, amino acids, antioxidants, enzymes, and many morenutrients.

OysterPowder is an excellent dietary supplement thatis beneficial for cardiovascular health, blood pressure, liver problems, arthritis and rheumatism and skincare. The flesh is collected when it is in itsmost concentrated form. The unpolluted waters of the marine farms in which theoysters are cultivated are continually monitored to ensure purity and quality.

Seacucumbers are marine animals that are closely relatedto starfish, sea urchins, and sand dollars. Seacucumbers have a long history of being part of the Asian diet, primarily formedicinal reasons.

    Benefits include:

Antioxidants – the biggest consensus is thatsea cucumbers contain high levels of antioxidants. A 1999 Malaysian study foundvery high levels of antioxidants and suggested they might be a good source forsupplements.Antioxidants are compounds that minimize the effect of free radical oxygen molecules, which are oxygen isotopes that are thought to cause damage to cells within the body in excess.

Collagen – A Japanese study found that about 70% of theanimal was made up of collagen that was generally inedible, although cookingthe animal appears to significantly break down the cell walls allowing thenutrients to be digested.Collagen is known to have a variety of health benefits for heart disease, joint pain, arthritis, and the effects of aging on skin appearance.

Chondroitin sulfate – sea cucumbers have also beenfound to contain high levels of chondroitin sulfate, a common dietarysupplement often used in conjunction with glucosamine to elevateosteoarthritis.

Amino acids – amino acids are essential forhealthy functioning of the cells and are considered important nutrients in ahealthy diet. A recent study found that all species of sea cucumber have highprotein levels, low lipid content, and adequate to high amounts of essentialamino acids. The rich amino acid variety along with the high protein levels make sea cucumbers compatible with high protein diets.

    ------------------------------

Paua is the Maori name for Abalone. The meat of the Pauahas also been considered good for eye health. Extremely rich in minerals, vitamins and proteins, Abalone is beneficial for maintaining general health andfor supporting the liver.
