    From what I have been reading, BHP has a history of setting up resource "precincts". That is where they can aggregate all the back office work and mtce and share equipment between sites. Just a point on the previous post. It is my belief, that O Dam, due to the U308 component is a very complex mining operation with significantly more oversight and overheads, processes and procedures than P Hill would not be experiencing. That, by definition makes it difficult for the mine to turn a profit.

    BHP sees copper as a future facing commodity and wants to grow that commodity. The geography of the Gawler Craton is well known to BHP, the SA Govt is mining friendly. This is just a logical expansion for BHP.
