i had a bad feeling that government wouldn't make the tough call on the port. in my view they will never make it and so Oakajee will continue to be a pipe dream. in three years the boom will be over and the mid west will not be a 'second' iron ore province, it will be the 'first' welfare province. aussie governments just don't get it do they. they'll build bell towers and sport stadiums but never anything that might be nation building, anything that might help australians to turn a quid for the next 100 years. we might as well turn it over to the chinese, at least they will make use of it and perhaps they will employ us as coolies along the way. i guess Humphry Appleby would have described any decision on Oakajee as 'courageous'... good one Alanah McT, your politically safe and we've got nothing... very couragous decision?
