What the Murdock Press is doing is WRONG. Here we have a politician who is in a very stressfull and important position.Along with the other independants he has a vital vote in our balanced Parliment. This form of intimidation is abhorant and has nothing to do with reporting the facts,its about trying to control the agenda.It tells him and the other Independants..... do what we want or we'll come a hunting. Rupert's will shall be done. The corruption complaints were raised by the NSW lib/Nats who in part would have recieved some of the political donations from Birdon.Its based more in spite than fact. There is no issue here.All politicians recieve donations. All politicians go in and represent their constituants. A donation to a party/local member is to assist with the costs of running an election campaign.The donor believes this person is the best available to fight for his cause in Canberra.When this el ected member gets too Canberra it is expected by all that he represents them when the occassion arises. At the time when an important electoral decision was being made affecting a big local employer,he raise the issue with anyone who will listen.Where is the corruption.So what if at the time he was in a particularly powerful position.He was doing his job.In the end the money and jobs went overseas but at least he had a go. Big companies,small companies and individuals all donate to try and gain some representation and influence when needed.The only other alternative is to ban all political donations. Oakkshot,Windsor,Katter and the other Independants are champions.Not shackled by the party line or obstructing just for the heck of it,we may actually get some good debate and reasonable legislation passed.
