The fact that Oaks is winning management rights to major hotels such as the Mon Komo (still in development) is a very good sign about the restructure of the services. The Oaks from a few years back would never have won this type of contract.

"Kyko Group development director Bill Jenkings said the group had spent 12 months searching for a hotel manager.

"With Oaks head office based on the Sunshine Coast, they have extensive experience in the Brisbane market, with the knowledge that goes in hand with being an international operator," Mr Jenkings said."

And this interesting tid-bit at the end.

"Although often maligned for poor returns, the serviced-apartment sector was boosted last year through the release of a CB Richard Ellis report that predicted the sector would become a dominant part of the accommodation market.

According to the report, 75 per cent of new accommodation projects either planned or under construction involve serviced apartments, partly because of the comparative cost benefits of serviced apartments to conventional hotels."

I must admit that I have not seen this report personally.
