    Obama was more hawkish than I've ever heard him before and I think that will work for him.

    The financial crisis has been characterised as a lack-of-regulation problem - the Republicans as the small-government party will suffer from that view regardless of the fact it's the opposite of the truth. McCain couldn't really lecture the hall about the fact that the crisis is a product of interference in the market by the Clinton administration - it would have required too much detail and sounded defensive so he was reduced to the I-feel-your-pain mantras that people seem to expect from politicians these days.

    The Democrats will win the election.
