Where to begin? Perhaps it might be easier to say that the over simplification of the Israel/Palestinian issues is all the west ever sees in the popular press (that and terrorist acts, on both sides).
I believe the Palestinians should have a state of their own, for the same reasons the Israeli's have theirs, however the issue for both sides is the disposition of Jerusalem and until that is somehow settled, the conflict will continue.
Someone said while religion was an issue the "problem" would would not go away - probably true. Also, whether or not the Jews are God's chosen people or not, is a non-issue. Muslims KNOW they are the chosen ones too! As do Christian's - do I need to go on?
Until the concept of "ownership" is removed, when ppl understand the land "owns" them, not the other way around, there will always be conflict in the world.
