dlux,
"what colour is light if it does indeed travel we should all see it buzzing about. Also whilst you are at it can you give me the colour of dark as we should all see that not buzzing about at a rough guess."
The colour of anything is dependent on the amount of light reaching the object. Certain colours are absorbed and others are reflected, and the wavelengths of the reflected colours determine which colours we see. With black objects, all of the wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum are absorbed, whereas with white objects, all of the wavelengths are reflected.
At night, nothing reflects its true colour. Everything appears to be black, due to the lack of the absorption and reflection of light.
Our eyes are only sensitive to electromagnetic radiation at certain frequencies. light in its rawest from "white light" is a combination of different colours that is emitted by the light source and contains the whole visible spectrum of frequencies. White light can be split into the seven colours: Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. These colours are dependent on the wavelength of the light.
P.S you can't see light buzzing around you in the same way you can't see bacteria or electrons buzzing around you they are microscopic particles.
