" that the food manufacturers today realized some time ago that MSG switched off the receptors to the brain to advise when were satiated; a result we just keep on eating."

    .......................

Not just MSG. Much of the food industry is based on taking the cheapest ingredients, sugar and flour, for probably 40c a kilo in bulk, adding flavours and colours and it is then worth $10 a kilo. Why are we surprised that there is an epidemic of obesity and diabetes and cancer(one in two the cancer council ads say)?
They will just buy the scientific opinion that supports their profits, same as the Pharma, Med and GMO industries.

I heard an interesting interview on Radio National last Saturday. It was an interview with Dr Gyorgy Scrinis, a lecturer in the "politics of food", discussing the phenomenon he calls "Nutritionism", the simplistic labelling of foods as "good" or "bad", both labels switching at regular intervals depending on the fad of the day. He also thinks that the food industry has captured the nutritional industry and presents most of the nutritional advice that people hear, and most of it is wrong. Worth a listen. http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/rnfirstbite/nutritionism/4749834

    cheers
