If you live on this and have a big enough structure you wait for such times and sentiment positions you to make a great dead of money, and they do need a great deal because whilst most work out the odd one that misfires costs big time. These guys (the investment bank equity teams) make little without volatility and each market always has a play and the team leaders in the big houses live or die on this.

Lynas in the US market was just a pre curser to what will have been a tasty day in the making not for any panicked selling or rushing at all really they don't do that, they do this every day on many many plays all over the world, it is simple standard everyday practise depending only on who is limping or sprinting in the herd. They know the demographics of who and how many are holding from the $2/$2.50 and they know from modelling how many will turn in and they even know at what level it will happen, damn hard to beat em.

For some teams Friday was a super day and they will cash in at a later date because they will have been buying plenty, they know that news (real or created) will do the opposite on a given day and the antenna?s are always up, the run up will be hard again and the selling into it late will be the call. Result ?.just look at where the big houses actually make the mullah and sure aint?t investing or selling advice.

Everyone has to handle it as they see fit, some shorts do well feeding off this, many here picked almost the exact Friday low. I think the trick is to know the company so well that you are to some extent able to shield yourself against the natural human condition of irrational fear, if not you will have your pockets picked time and time again.
