Thats exactly right - there will be further write-downs. Earnings are trending down so the new guy is going to do whatever it takes to cover himself. That means write-downs. Lack of guidance means more bad news and a general view that earnings are likely to be volatile; up or down. Hence, better to say nothing rather than miss expectations.
The writing has been all on the wall for some time now. Investors should wait until the stock finds a low and earning find a floor.
