for many many decades prior to Covid, the culture in Japan was to wear a mask if you were not feeling well. They did this out of simple courtesy for one another, not because of government decree. In Australia, having been established as a convict nation, and operating as a nanny state for the past 20 years now at least, the government solution to change our behaviour is (as always) to create a law! So instead of people letting themselves come to their own natural inclination to respect one another and try to help each other by wearing a mask etc, the government takes that away and replaces it with an order "do this or else". That sounds like socialism to me, and you can expect it to only get worse in the future, Covid or no Covid, as we keep accepting more and more government control. Most amazing thing is that the USA are leading the charge towards socialism!

Being "told" to do something at all times even at times when it makes no sense is just going to piss people off. I'm not anti mask, I'm just anti stupid. I'm not anti vaccine either, just anti WTF am I still getting locked into my house for if I have already taken the vaccine!
