Hey. Medical doctor here... yep it is true, we use certain visual signs to help diagnose conditions. I.e skin color, eyes, lips, inside mouth, ears etc. But these signs can be very vague and a cluster of signs can easily be missed by the over worked, tired and time poor doctor. Plus, we cannot pick up very subtle changes over time.

That might be the key here. A simple glance at a patient i.e a single point set of data doesn't tell us much. But imagine many various pieces of information about a person from a image or video, inputted into a system and then analysed by brain chip over months to years (at each subsequent visit). Then compared that to many other people of similar demographics. If we then input outcome data such as patient a) developed heart disease, then the system could look back and see what signs were there and how they changed, leading up to that disease. Essentially learning how to spot disease by multiple inputs of data... exciting in my opinion.
