re your question about who the potential competitors in this space are? I started to get the jitters the more I started to search for who is doing what by searching on "colorectal cancer" in these two web sites:-

* http://search.centerwatch.com/default.aspx?SearchQuery=colorectal cancer

re the statistical significance is marginal, it is a personal preference, some of the p values were good, from memory others were not so good, on balance the more I questioned myself the more I realised that I was simply looking for much stronger results
