In regards to western competition not allowing this deal. What makes you think that the same blindness that left western countries in this mess would not lead to them allowing this deal to slip away?

Short-sightedness has led them here and it's amazing that a totalitarian nation has to demonstrate that long term vision and execution trumps short term politicking.

The west needs to wake up to this but in the mean time, China takes the deals. Kicking and screaming is the only way the west had been dragged into downstream production of rare earths, a half hearted effort at that. You think they can handle the monster? Get real.
