As in being able to dictate which device is used/recommended due to pricing?

I don't believe so. Expanding upon this; in the public sector, prostheses are mostly purchased through tendering arrangements with a focus on bulk purchasing and limited prostheses that enables lower costs and lower pricing; where as with Private hospital purchasing is generally based on a single purchase at a time based on surgeon preference. Insurers would most likely be at the whim of the specialist although this is not my area of expertise.

Someone with a better understanding might want to chime in here and correct me.
