I was on Dexamethasone late last year before a brain op. It helped reduce swelling in the brain. It also cleared my blocked nose. Winner! The downside is it can make sleep difficult. Other than that it was nothing special. However I was fit and healthy at the time. I doubt a healthy person notices the difference.
I've since been on a similar steroid (Prednisone), and yep, it can make you feel better, but that's when you're coming off a low base.
Most people (me included) spend a long time trying to get off this stuff.
