Gold fell sharply by around 0.75 percent to $1,338.75 on Tuesday morning after reports from Russian news agencies - quoting a Kremlin spokesman - said that President Vladimir Putin had ordered troops in military exercise to return to base. The Kremlin had previously said that these exercises - which took place in an area which borders Ukraine - were not linked to events in Ukraine
