odd short selling going on

    Hi,

    Here are the end of day covered short positions (as disclosed by ASX) for UMC:

    Monday 22nd --- 47,405
    Friday 19th --- 24,252
    Thursday 18th - 5,999

    What I'd like to know is:

    If ASIC banned short selling on Monday - how come the number of shorts increased during that day???
