I'd prefer management to forget about the share price and let the market determine it's own value. Can't they focus on earnings growth and top operational performance / satisfying clients instead?
Also IMO the directors are mad to sell anything when the market is seemingly worried about the level of business to be achieved, or future earnings.
They don't appear to be stupid. You sell the businesses when the market is hot, if you have to sell them. You also should merge from a position of strength, and not weakness. The market cap will follow operational success or failure.
Management possibly appear to be distracted by angry major shareholders, but should stick to running the business.
