Sinochem snags Monsanto contract

SINOCHEM Australia has been appointed by Monsanto Company as the exclusive distributor of Roundup branded products for agriculture in Australia and New Zealand from September 2013.


Sinochem Australia is an Australian-based and managed company established to supply agricultural chemicals into the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Sinochem Australia is a fully-owned by Chinese-based global chemical firm Sinochem International.

Sinochem Australia is managed by a strong Australian management team with decades of experience in Australian and New Zealand agriculture and crop protection.

Sinochem Australia's managing director Roger Angell is a former head of Australia and New Zealand for Monsanto Company and has extensive management experience in crop protection markets in the US and Europe.

Commercial manager Richard Jagger has had a 25 year career in Australia with Monsanto and Roundup brands.

Operations manager and New Zealand country lead Michael Summons is a former New Zealand country manager for Monsanto and has extensive experience in the Australian and New Zealand crop protection business.

Mr Angell will sit on the board of Sinochem Australia alongside directors nominated by Sinochem International. Sinochem Australia Melbourne-based executive Herman Loos will be company secretary.

Mr Angell said Sinochem Australia's focus is on the company's relationship with distribution businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

"Our role is to work with these important customers, understand their business issues, and work to add value to how they service their farmer customers," Mr Angell said.

"Our initial focus is marketing the quality and effectiveness of Roundup products. Sinochem Australia and Monsanto will commit significant resources to the marketing and development of Roundup brands in Australia and New Zealand.

"Roundup products will be made to Monsanto Company specifications using Monsanto high quality raw materials.

"Roundup products will continue meeting Monsanto's high quality standards and will be produced with the same raw materials used globally.
