The offshore wind project location in Gippsland is one of the best located in the whole of Australia. The wind blows are phenomenal, the ocean bed is very shallow close to the shore, it is close to Loy Lang transmission line system in Gippsland (just 70kms on relatively flat land) and there is a workforce in the Gippsland La Trobe Valley that understands electricity.
I should also say the deepwater port infrastructure to service the wind turbines is already in place in Gippsland.
Shell's decision will not derail the transition to non fossil fuel electricity generation.
