I think you nail the biggest issue there regarding record keeping. That is the only reason one would want to eliminate losses asap. If one is good at record keeping, then that should not be an issue. Personally, I once forgo some capital loss, a few hundred dollars, just so that I can close all those record keeping after 5 years
