Obviously Didipio represents a very useful mine to OGC in that it produces some good gold but also copper which lowers the cost of production. That is its big attraction in my opinion. However, in some ways it is not critical to OGC's success as a gold producer. Certainly if it was got back into production then that would be a useful boost but if it doesn't work out for whatever reason and OGC pulls out of the Philippines then it is not the end of the world nor of OGC.

However, I remain optimistic that Duterte will finally grant approval. I concede that the continued, protracted delay in signing the FTAA off is concerning and you wonder what is the difficulty especially since the FTAA request has been approved a couple of times by the government agencies that are responsible for vetting such applications. I don't accept your contention that OGC has been a bad mining company considering the environmental awards that it has won in recent years.

Really Google, OGC in the Philippines, really do it look beyond the first page of results. Jesus, there are multiple bloody YouTube videos spelling out the reality of what OGC has done in this country. The information is there, if your not lazy and you take the time to look. OGC has behaved pretty badly, look at the stories in the Age from over a decade ago. Read what people in the Philippines say about what the company has done. Stop pretending you are informed when manifestly you are not.

Twice you’ve done it, spruiked the ‘environmental awards’ OGC has won. People who spruik environmental awards of mining companies are often the most ignorant and quite frankly stubbornly stupid as the award relieves them of any use of any form of further critical thinking. It is so so easy to unearth the non-OGC history of their activity in the Phillipines, so so easy. You think critically and research, then evaluate the facts you find not just use the nice ones in some conformation bias exercise. Almost everything you have said demonstrates you know nothing about what mining is really in the Philippines or what politics is like in the Philippines. Get insulted if you like, make up fantasies about what is inside the mind of Duterte, convince yourself you have some analytic insight. But an underlying truth remains for the rest of us, this issue of the FTAA is embedded inside a web of intrigue at the moment and every opinion, even the relatively well informed ones, appear as nothing more than speculation.
