I've been dwelling on this for a few days. I'm not particularly smart when it comes to a lot of technical things, but... Something seems a bit off.

I've invested in companies that are in some challenging jurisdictions. I'll do this if

1) The management have successful experience dealing in that nation or region.

If not then

2) They have an influential trustworthy local partner.

Still not?

3) The unit makes only a small part of the overall business.

I think in this situation the Philippines is a value trap.

I'll still consider investing, but not at this price. A good business at a high price can be a bad investment. A troublesome business at a very good price can be a good investment. I'll wait. If I miss out, then... meh.
