Wait a second tho....The Hancock empire HAS given heaps to this country and this state(W.A). I will never deny that.
I remember, as a child hearing Lang Hancocks recorded exclamation from an aircraft flying over the Pilbara(1965 I think) "Its Iron Ore!..Its All Iron Ore!"
Lang Hancock was never really known fo his philanthropy, but mark my words, in essence he was indeed, perhaps by default, a philanthropist and at heart, just an Aussie hard workin bloke.
I sincerely beleive that he had the best interests of many at heart, when he helped develop the Pilbara iron ore district. He knew many men and women would have jobs, to sustain and grow this country into, well, what it is now.
He probably also knew that his legacy would be far greater than his own entire life. He didn't make qualm over paying a good man a fair days wage.
