Powder package shuts part of Australia parliament

CANBERRA, June 9 (Reuters) - A package of white powder forced
the closure of part of Australia's Parliament House on Thursday
for the second time in a week and two days after the Indonesian
embassy was shut for a second time due to a suspicious parcel.

"Another package of white powder has been detected in the
Loading Dock. The incident has been contained in the Loading
Dock, and ACT (Australian Capital Territory) emergency services
have been called," Parliament House authorities said in an email.

The previous packages sent to Parliament House and the nearby
Indonesian embassy were found to be harmless. They came amid an
emotional backlash in Australia against Indonesia's jailing of an
Australian woman on drug smuggling charges.
