You see this 1 share difference to the downside, prior to a share taking off. Ive seen it many many times.

Its done so that the real buying can be hidden and to give the perception the stock is weak. All it does in the end is allow further accumulation before takeoff.

Once the stock goes up substantially and is near its top, I can guarantee you the exact opposite will occur. ie. It will often end up 1 pip to give the impression of buying and strength so that the big fellas can sell more stock. Before you know it a massive dump occurs.

When you watch markets very closely over multiple years, you will see these tricks play out time and time again.
