I tend to agree but it can be costly being out of the market which basically put on 10% in the 2 months from late October to late December. It can be tough to know when to get back in.
For that reason I prefer to take 10 or 20% off the table when I think things are getting frothy but have kept most of my defensives. Not everything is tied to the economic cycle.
Everyone is different, personally I've been (recently) modestly reducing my total number of holdings in favour of a couple of low cost LICs and cash.
