I had this problem a few times last week.At one point the spreads were as far as 7 points during XJO trading times which is usually 2 pips spreads and they also locked up their charts and suspended trades for a few times for short periods when it was very volatile.

A friend of mine had the same sort of problem with CMC and i think Volt was mentioning of his computer S/Down.Locking up of charts forces u to close your trades if u do not have any back up but i use another system (Phoenix charts)together with IG charts so i'm OK but locking up trades just shocks me.My computer had also shut down once but i quickly brought in my backup.

I just upgraded my computer gizmo systems,now i have one mainframe 22" screen with two other screens for charts and another computer ready in case of emergencies and lap top all fired up.

You need very good proccessing dual core speeds and at least 2 gig memory as u are up against the big boys.
