Think your information may be a tad biased.

Oil costs almost nothing to extract... most of the cost is in setting up the infrastructure in the first place. Last I checked ISIL didn't pay for their infrastructure... so don't have to pay it off... and as such are making a killing even at the discount they have to sell it for to the fences...
