Speculators driving it up - im sure OPEC would like to see the cost closer to $40 US barrel.
That said higher non renewable energy costs will start to make alternative cleaner energy sources cheaper and perhaps a rise in investment in new energy efficent technolgoies esp in cars, manujfacturing and consumer goods.
