I will take a stab in the dark and suggest the root of these problems started when the Americans decided to start producing their own oil and not have to be so reliant on the Saudis.
Something tells me the Saudis did not take to kindly to that and decided to take matters into their own hands.
But hey what would I know, I am just a silly possum.
