“The strategy is a good one for most investors, particularly those in AU. With the 50% CGT discount, a sale would put a lot more after tax cash in most people's pockets than waiting for unfranked dividends many years into the future”.


With a lot of investors holding options it will be interesting to see when they are exercised.

Once they are exercised they will have to wait another 12 months to be entitled to another 50% CGT.

I think a lot of holders would have made their minds up about SSN before Dec 2012 whether to sell or exercise their option.


With the ASX closed tomorrow (Anzac Day) we will have 2 trading days in the US so we may even receive an update on the AMEX instead.
