The point that has been missed is that oil will not run out but it will get more expensive and only then will alternative energy sources become viable. The problem begins with expensive oil before exhaustion of stocks. Get used to expensive energy. Fossil fuels are taxed heavily whereas we have to offer subsidies to make solar and wind affordable.
