management shake up at Santos:
Two senior Santos executives, once seen as potential candidates to replace former chief executive David Knox, are being shown the exit door as new chief executive Kevin Gallagher instigates a shake-up of senior leadership at the weakened oil and gas producer.
The imminent departure of vice president corporate development James Baulderstone and vice president Queensland Trevor Brown marks the beginning of a management restructuring that will overhaul responsibilities within the company.
The decline of Santos as oil prices collapsed over the past 18 months has put pressure on Mr Gallagher to act decisively to restore some value for shareholders, who have seen their investment dramatically shrink since June 2014. He has promised to look "for every lever, every opportunity" to improve efficiency and reduce costs, and is examining the future of some businesses within the company, including the Asian operations.
