Gilbert, I think the closing of the gap in early Jan was something to do with some new US legislation increasing the amount of oil that the US were permitted to export to world markets. Perhaps there is now a perception that this will have a negligable effect and so the difference has reverted back to normal? Having said that the gap is now slightly more than previous? dunno I haven't checked that.
